Water Gardening...

The pleasure...

Few additions to a garden are more spectacular and rewarding than that of a water garden. Nothing quite complements a summer’s afternoon in the garden more than listening to the relaxing sound of a rippling waterfall, watching fish rise gently to take advantage of an unwary insect, or seeing, as if in slow motion, the closing of a lily flower for the night. There is all the fun of planning and design in the early stages and decisions  on position and shape – whether it may have a formal or informal theme. Your pond may be primarily for keeping the stunning koi carp, purely a lily pond, or maybe one that contains a little bit of everything.

A true family project...

Whether in the planning or in the actual digging, the whole family will often become involved in the construction of a garden pond. A pond can be as simple or as intricate as you wish it to be, from a small water feature taking an afternoon to build, to one taking many weeks. But all ponds have one thing in common — they are one of the few additions to your garden which will improve year by year as they mature, attracting a myriad of wildlife to the garden.

Here to make Water Gardening a reality.....

World of Water was founded in 1984 in Romsey, Hampshire, and has quickly risen to become the UK’s largest and most successful water gardening company, with branches throughout England and more on the way. Wherever you are in the country the centres are well worth a visit, with walk-around display gardens showing different types of ponds in varied settings to inspire you. You will find all major products found in these pages in our stores at discounted prices, making a pond affordable to all

Help at Hand....

We hope that in this site you will find the answers to all the most common questions asked when people first think of building a pond. If you have any further queries please either visit, or phone any of our stores, where our experts will be pleased to advise you

The Safe Pond Guide

Ponds and aquatic life fascinate young children! Therefore it is  important to make the area safe, whilst enjoyable. Here are some simple ideas to help:

  • Always supervise children around water.
  • Position the pond in a part of the garden where access can be restricted and where it is highly visible to adults.
  • A raised pond will create a natural barrier.
  • Use a fence to protect the pond.
  • Use wide shallow planting areas. This will allow easy escape should a child fall in.
  • Visiting children are often at higher risk as they may be unaware of the danger.
  • Always have electrical items professionally fitted with a trip switch (RCD).
  • Ensure pool edging is secure.
  • Remember accidents are very rare, so enjoy your pond while being aware of safety.
